Wonderful time - Had a chance to meet Kala Ramesh and Susan Burch. Missed Mary Davila and Janet Davis, who were plaanning to go, but could not make it.

There were many highlights, but the International tanka readings were a highlight for me. Kala read some of her students' work and I could not believe how strong these tanka were. She also shared some of her own excellent work. My wife and I love Kala!!!! She reads so well!

Mariko Kitakubo's reading was really special. She read her poems in Japanese and in English and you could really feel the emotion in those Japanese readings. She also passed out handouts of the poems so we could read along - and not miss anything!! Michael Dylan Welch and Kathabela Wilson did an amazing job putting this event together. It was a privilege to meet Michael for the first time. Kathabela and I met earlier this year and have become fast friends.

I also met many others, including Pamela Babusci and Laura Maffei.
Poets shared copies of their work and I came away with a great haul of poetry.
to read. If you missed it think about trying to attend next year!!

Sounds wonderful, Ken. So glad you and the others who went were able to attend and bring back news. And, it must be a thrill to interact with poets you've known in print in person at last.

Thanks for posting the news, Ken. It sounds like HNA did for you what Seabeck does for me. Very Happy

Thanks for posting, Ken. Wish I could have been there, but "life" got in the way. It sounds like things went very well. I enjoyed all the pics on FB.

It was a wonderful time, Mary. It would have even been better had I met you there. I know how life can get in the way though. All my best to you

It was simply wonderful to meet you and your wife at Tanka Sunday.
